Jupiter Broadcasting Bookmarklet for Amazon

Did you know that Jupiter Broadcasting is an Amazon affiliate? You can add the parameter tag=thelinactsho-20 to any Amazon product URL and JB will receive a little kickback. But this is cumbersome. So I built a bookmarklet that does the work for you:

JB Amazon

Drag the above link into you "Bookmarks Toolbar" and click it when you shop at Amazon.

Jupiter Broadcasting Boxee-App update: DIY

I just heard from Chris that the Boxee guys rejected the Jupiter Broadcasting App, as it is 'just' a compilation of RSS-Feeds. This is retarded for a multitude of reasons. All content-providing Boxee Apps are, by necessity, RSS-based. Some have a skin (such as the Rev3 App), others are exactly the same as the one I created (CNET's App for example), namely just a bunch of RSS-Feeds that Boxee's engine will display in a list. So it's ok if CNET uses the built-in RSS-reader, but not when others do???

So thanks to the Boxee guys you'll have to install it manually instead of being able to install it from the repo. Very convenient. -.-

  1. Download the ZIP-File
  2. Extract it to ~/.boxee/UserData/apps (on Linux, others see here)
  3. (Re-) Start Boxee

I'm not sure if this is possible on a Boxee-Box, but if you've built the box yourself, it works just fine.

syno-indicator: App-Indicator for you Synology NAS

So, I'm trying to get into Python/GTK. Also, I haven't been satisfied with the Firefox-Addons for Synology Diskstations. And I use Ubuntu. So obviously, I had to write an App-Indicator for said NAS:

syno-indicator: Provides an App-Indicator for you Synology NAS. Add links and torrents, see download progress, auto-add torrents from a folder. Only useful if your platform supports App-Indicators and you own a Synology NAS!
